1. What is a ChargeBox?

A ChargeBox is a machine for charging devices such as mobiles, ipods & pdas in securable lockers. They are usually situated in locations such as airports. hotels, gyms, malls and hospitals [more]

2. How do I use a ChargeBox?

A ChargeBox is used like a simple gym locker. You attach your device, enter a pound coin and lock it into a compartment with a key. Charging begins automatically [more]

3. Will it charge my device?

Each ChargeBox can charge over 20 different types of devices. We evolve the machine to stock the latest and most popular chargers and have a list of currently compatible devices.

4. Where can I find a ChargeBox?

We are constantly looking to expand the number of locations which host ChargeBoxes. To locate a ChargeBox please view our find section. If you feel an area/location could benefit from a ChargeBox please let us know.

5. Is the ChargeBox a fast-charge service?

No- we do not use fast-charge technology. There is a risk fast charge devices can damage your battery in the long term.

6. How long will it take to charge my device?

Different devices take different lengths of time to charge. Most can be fully charged in around 35 minutes, however ipods for example can take almost 2 hours to fully charge! We recommend you check your manufacturers website for precise details.

7. What happens when the 40 minutes charging time is completed?

When the charging time is up your device will of course stop charging! However, the door will remain locked until you use your key to open it. It contravenes the terms of use to leave a device in the locker for over five hours- if you do so it is likely to be removed at the end of the day by the proprietor.

8. What happens if I open my locker mid-charge?

You can open your locker to retrieve your device at any time you like. However, your charging time will cease at this moment and you will have to make another payment if you wish to carry on charging.

9. Are the lockers secure?

The locker's design is based on hotel safes. They are made to be as secure as possible and they utilize keys that cannot be copied. More often than not ChargeBoxes are also watched over by staff in the location they reside AND are under the coverage of CCTV cameras. In the very unlikely event that a problem did arise your product is covered by our insurance.

10. What happens if i lose my key?

If you lose your key please contact us immediatly either by phone: 0870 042 7271 or by email- lostkey@boxbrands.co.uk. We will be able to open your locker but because we will need to subsequently replace the lock there will be a £15 charge for this service.

11. Why is there an admin fee when paying by SMS?

In order to provide the SMS payment option we had to set up a lot of infrastructure and each time you use this service your network takes a large payment. As such we add a small admin fee, making the total charge £1.28+vat (£1.50 inc vat) rather than the normal £1.

12. Can I suggest a location for ChargeBoxes?

We are always keen to hear suggestions for ChargeBox locations- if you know of somewhere, either a specific location or an area then please let us know.

13. Why doesn't ChargeBox include my device?

Unfortunately there are only a limited number of devices that we can accomodate in each ChargeBox. We constantly endeavour to keep this updated with the most popular manufacturers. If you feel we have missed one out please tell us.

14. What if there is a powercut or some kind of fault?

In the event that there is a powercut, or any kind of fault, and your device is inside a ChargeBox, rest assured you will always be able to remove it using your key, even if there is no power to the ChargeBox. The charging process will however stop. If you let us know about any incident like this we will refund you the payment you made.

15. If I pay by SMS how do I choose a locker.

Once you have sent an SMS to 80010, you will get both a response on your phone confirming payment and the chargebox will start flashing. You do not need to confirm in your SMS which locker you want to use. On receipt of payment it will be possible to use any locker. You confirm which one you want to use by turning and removing the key of that locker. This will commence the charging process.

16. Are ChargeBoxes only available in the UK?

No they are also available in Iceland, France, South Africa & Turkey. More countries will follow shortly.
