30 Minutes Free Phone Charging     

• Open the locker door and find an available charging cable that is compatible with your device .
• Plug in your device and check that your device is charging.
• Tap your contactless payment card on the card reader located on the front of the charging station.
• Lock the door of the locker containing your device, using the key provided.
• Take the key and keep it safe, make a note of the locker number & location, and leave your device to charge.
• Use the locker key to retrieve your device.

Tap to Lock means you must tap the card reader with a suitable payment method in order to lock the locker door (see FAQ's - What types of payment do you accept?). If the card reader does not register your contactless card, insert your card into the card reader.

The payment is required to lock the locker door. Once the door is locked a pending payment of £0.10 in the form of a deposit payment will be taken by your bank (not by ChargeBox). Depending on the amount of time you leave your device connected in the locker the applicable fees will be applied to your card when your device is retrieved. If you disconnect your device within the free 30 minute period your bank will be notified and they will release the pending deposit payment* back to you. 

* Please note that your bank can take 2-5 days to return the pending deposit payment.

If you return to collect your device within 30 minutes you will not incur any fees for using the service and you will be rebated for your deposit payment* of £0.10. For every additional hour that your device is connected following the 30 minute free period you will be charged £1 per hour, up to a maximum of £5. This charge will be levied when your device is collected.

We accept Visa or MasterCard debit or credit cards, or the use of Google Pay or Apple Pay providing it is presented by a device other than the device being charged in the locker.

Check that your payment method is valid (see FAQ - What types of payment do you accept?). While there is not a daily limit for contactless payments, from time to time when you shop using contactless, and depending on your bank, you may need to insert your card into the card reader machine and possibly enter your PIN for verification before you use the contactless function again.  Sometimes inserting your card into the card reader is enough and your payment will be successful. However, our card machines do not have a PIN function so if your bank requires a PIN to be entered for verification, in this instance you would need to use a different method of payment.

The locker door will only lock on the presentation of a valid VISA or MasterCard debit or credit card presented to the card reader terminal. The presentation may be a physical card inserted into the card reader, a physical contactless card presented to the card reader, or the use of Google Pay or Apple Pay by a device other than the device being charged in the locker.

Your device must be connected to a suitable cable, it must be charging and you must have presented a valid payment method to the card reader in order to lock the door . Failure to complete either of these steps will result in the locker door not being able to lock and your pending payment will be automatically cancelled. 

In the unlikely event that you have left your phone connected in a locker for more than 30 minutes, incurred a fee for charging, and have not received a battery charge please contact our customer services desk for assistance via support@www.chargebox.com or call 020 3588 1060.

However, if you are unable to charge your phone for whatever reason, either through fault or error, your pending deposit payment* will be released back to you.

At this point you may receive a bank notification regarding this pending payment. When you return to collect your device, providing your device has not been connected for more than 30 minutes, your pending bank deposit* will be released back to you and you will not incur any fees for using the ChargeBox service.
