ChargeBox Healthcare Case Study – Chase Farm

Chase Farm
A ChargeBox Healthcare Case Study

Redevelopment and Digital Transformation Project

The redevelopment of Chase Farm Hospital was achieved at an unprecedented speed for a project of its size and complexity in the NHS.

The scheme took just four years from the acquisition of Chase Farm Hospital by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust to completion in July 2018.

The new hospital is at the forefront of pioneering new ways of working to deliver better, safer and more efficient care, through new and innovative technology.

The Challenge:

Chase Farm Hospital set itself the target of becoming the most digitally advanced hospital in the NHS. With this is mind they wanted to offer a device charging service to their patients so they could stay connected and help alleviate stress during their visit.  Importantly, the solution needed to:

  • comply with health and safety regulations
  • guarantee device security
  • guarantee the charge itself
  • be easy to use
  • be available to patients, visitors and staff
They needed a trusted charging partner with in-depth healthcare experience to provide a suitable product and to manage the deployment of the units. They also needed a partner that could take responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the charging stations to ensure an exceptional user experience.

The Solution:

ChargeBox provided Chase Farm Hospital with eight ChargeBox Max stations positioned in a number of different locations, delivering installation and a total care support package. The ChargeBox Max stations are freestanding units capable of charging six devices simultaneously.

ChargeBox Max stations are easy to use with a 19” main screen and 7” control screen. The stations provide unrivalled safety and security.

Business Benefits:

ChargeBox charging stations alleviate stress as patients and visitors can stay connected during their visit, enhancing their overall experience. They also increase staff productivity as staff no longer have to deal with charging requests with the stations providing a safe and secure environment for charging to take place.

This also leads to a reduction in uncontrolled use of sockets, which can cause health and safety risks.

Finally, the stations facilitate online engagement and provide an opportunity for the Hospital to promote its brand via the vinyl wrap and the LCD display panel. ChargeBox technology has helped Chase Farm to distinguish itself as the most digitally advanced hospital in the NHS, significantly enhancing the overall patient experience.

We had a ChargeBox installed in our Children’s ED and have since had nothing but positive feedback. It has provided people with an opportunity to charge their phones whilst waiting to be seen. This allows them to play games or watch entertainment which appear to be a huge distraction from the sometimes unavoidable Emergency Department waits. We can’t recommend it enough!
